About Michelle.

Statement

I am a Michigan artist, illustrator, designer and teacher, currently working in glass mosaic, pastel, watercolor,  charcoal and acrylic. I create large and small glass mosaic pieces, some of which are intended for indoor and some outdoor installations.  As a painter, I specialize in commission work, book illustrations, portraits, still life and landscape.   My work includes designing and running community art events and projects, designing exhibits, running school and community art programs and teaching. I  judge art exhibitions both locally and nationally.  I strive to transfer the joy I feel in creating my art to my students and clients.

Vivid colors, strong design and a sense of movement characterize my work. I take my inspiration from the natural world, particularly the way in which light plays upon surfaces. I strive to communicate ideas, feelings and inspirational learning into my pieces. In my teaching and community work, I focus upon community building and incorporate learning into the art projects. I am currently represented by Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids, MI.
